SanctionSnap – Terms of Service

SBM ehf. (kennitala 5401250580), Reykjavik, Iceland ("SanctionSnap", "we", "our") runs the SanctionSnap API and website.

1. Accepting these terms

By creating an account, getting an API key, or using the API in any way, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. What the service does

We give you programmatic access to public sanctions and politically exposed person (PEP) lists, merged and searchable through a single API.

3. Accounts and API keys

  • You must be 18 years or older and legally able to enter contracts.
  • Keep your API key private. You are responsible for any call made with it.
  • We may rate‑limit or revoke keys that break these Terms or the law.

4. Plans and billing

  • Plans, call limits, and prices are shown on our website.
  • Billing and card storage are handled by Clerk and Stripe on our behalf.
  • Charges are non‑refundable except where required by law.

5. Fair use and restrictions

You must not:

  • Re‑sell or sublicense raw data without our written consent.
  • Use the API for unlawful activity or to harm others.
  • Try to scrape, copy, or de‑obfuscate our code or infrastructure.

6. Intellectual property

The software, compiled database, and branding belong to SanctionSnap. Raw source lists remain property of their original owners and are used under their open licences.

7. Data you send us

You may send names or other identifiers to screen. We process them only to return matches and logs. You keep all rights in that data.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided "as is." We do not promise it is complete, accurate, or fit for any purpose. You are responsible for your compliance decisions.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for lost profits, indirect, or consequential damages.

10. Indemnity

You agree to defend and indemnify SanctionSnap against claims arising from your misuse of the service.

11. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or end your access at any time for breach of these Terms, non‑payment, or legal risk. You may cancel at any time through your dashboard.

12. Changes to these Terms

If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or dashboard message 30 days before they take effect. Continued use means acceptance.

13. Governing law

Icelandic law governs these Terms. Courts in Reykjavík have exclusive jurisdiction.
